
In honour of the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty's accession to the throne, the Queen approved the creation of this commemorative medal to be awarded to citizens who have made a significant contribution to Canada, to their community, or to their fellow citizens. In July 2002, The Governor General of Canada announced that Paul Almond was awarded Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee Medal.
The Audio Visual Society of Canada awarded Paul Almond's film Isabel the designation of a
masterwork in a ceremony on Thursday, October 26th, 2006 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto,
in the presence of the Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean.
The Directors Guild of Canada honoured Paul Almond with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrated on September 29th, 2007.
